Lunch for College Students

If you are a college student, please join us for lunch at the Cooper’s after the worship gathering this Sunday, December 6. We won’t say what we are going to have, but you know its going to be good.

“Treasure Hunts”

Bucky and Elijah will be going into the East Lake neighborhood Saturday, December 12th to pray for folks. If anyone is interested in going with them please meet at the Salvation Army in East lake at 10am. We will leave from there and return by noon. Contact Bucky bucky@downtownvineyard.com

Advent

This Sunday marks the beginning of the Advent season.  Come worship with us as we begin to celebrate the coming of Jesus to earth. The weeks of Advent remind us to set aside some of the hectic business of the holiday season and to quietly reflect on the promise of the baby born in Bethlehem 2000 years ago. The Bible readings below are meant to help us think about the themes related to the Advent season.

Children’s Ministry in December 2009

Through the month of December we will not be having children’s church for the kids 5 and up during our worship gatherings. However, the Tykes (3-4 yrs) and Nursery will continue to meet.

Missions Support Opportunity

James and LaDonna Spruill will be going Mexico this winter on a scouting mission trip.  They are going as ambassadors from our church to gather information and create a partnership with missionary Tim Meyer in Zacatecas, Mexico.

James and LaDonna need prayer support and financial support.  If you feel led to give financially, please write your check to Downtown Vineyard with “Mexico Missions” in the memo.  You can mail checks to the church’s address (at the bottom of this email) or put them in the offering box during service.

Discipleship Experiment

We want to help people in our church community grow and mature in their relationship with Jesus. So, we are looking at doing something very exciting beginning in January 2010. You can read more at buckybuckles.blogspot.com.

Blanket Donations

Do you have a used blanket that you are willing to part with?  On behalf of various ministries in the city we are collecting blankets to be given to the homeless or families in need. You can bring them on Sundays and we will get them to right place.

Chaplain Dawn Marie Siebold

Remember to pray for Dawn Marie Siebold.  She is currently serving in Afghanistan and does a lot of traveling throughout the country, providing spiritual support to the troops.

Chattanooga Commons

Someone in our church community needs to borrow a car for a few weeks to get back and forth to work.  This is a temporary situation until a new vehicle is purchased.  If you can help, please click here to contact Bucky.

Reminder- 10-Minute Party

We’d like to invite you to stay after Sunday service for our 10-Minute Party.  We’ll provide some light snacks to tide you over till lunch.  We’re hoping this time after service will help give us a chance to get to know some of your new faces.  So, don’t rush off; meet someone new; catch up with an old friend.
